Women & Impact: Boulder
June 18 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Our June Women & Impact meeting will showcase Kristall Laursen from Global Greengrants and Kelly Nordini from Conservation Colorado who will lead a discussion about how we can support conservation efforts here in Colorado and around the world. Thanks to Susan Graf for hosting us in her lovely home in south Boulder. Address will be sent out to RSVPs the week before the event.
Since 1993, Global Greengrants Fund has been one of the leading organizations in the world supporting grassroots-led efforts to protect the planet and the rights of people. Together with our diverse community of people on the frontlines and our supporters, we’ve impacted the lives of millions of people. To get money into the hands of people with the most effective solutions, Global Greengrants designed a grantmaking model that allows us to find and invest in ideas without bureaucracy or red tape. We offer a 25-year track record of success funding decisions made by our trusted network of dedicated volunteer experts, who act as our eyes and ears on the ground. Since 2014, we have increased our grantmaking to projects that address the unequal and gendered impacts of environmental damage. More than half of our total budget now goes to support women-led or women-focused projects, making us one of the top organizations in the world supporting women’s environmental-action initiatives. Global Greengrants also actively advocates for increased support of women’s environmental projects throughout the philanthropic community, sharing analysis on how funders can increase the amount of resources going to the intersection of women’s rights and the environment.
The mission of Conservation Colorado is to protect Colorado’s environment and quality of life by mobilizing people and electing conservation-minded policymakers. Protecting our environment means preserving what we love about Colorado. Our stunning mountains, open vistas, and rushing rivers inspire us and connect us to the majesty of nature. Unfortunately, our amazing state faces grave threats. Powerful interests are constantly pushing to put pollution and profit over public health. We are at the front lines of every fight working to protect the air, land, water, and people across our state. For over 50 years, we’ve worked with communities statewide to ensure that our quality of life and our environment are protected. We work to elect pro-conservation leaders to public office and then hold our decision makers accountable to move Colorado forward in protecting our environment. Forged from the history and accomplishments of the Colorado Environmental Coalition and Colorado Conservation Voters, Conservation Colorado is the next chapter in protecting Colorado’s natural heritage.
Women & Impact Series
Each month we host an event to bring together women who are interested in creating positive impact in our community and our world. We often have two speakers that highlight various opportunities for investing, philanthropy or volunteering. We always have plenty of time for networking and learning about impact opportunities from our network. Join us for an evening with great food, wine, and discussions with other like minded women who are looking to create positive change with their time, money, and expertise.
This Women & Impact series is sponsored by the BSW Wealth Partners, Social Venture Circle, and the Next Wave Foundation, so you may register for the event by donating just one dollar. However, donations of any size are always appreciated and will go towards our impact initiatives in US, Africa, Latin America, and Asia through the Next Wave Network and the Next Wave Foundation. Anything above $20 is tax deductible. Thank you for your support!
